The National Assembly of Serbia rejected the proposal to include the Draft Law on Civil Partnership on the agenda
At the third sitting of the second regular session, held on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the National Assembly of Serbia rejected the proposal to amend the agenda with the Draft Law on Civil Partnership.
The proposal to amend the agenda with this law was submitted by Jelena Jerinić, a Member of Parliament from the Green–Left Front. Only 26 MPs voted in favor, 5 were against, while the majority of MPs either did not vote or were absent from the session.
Da se zna! notes with regret that despite years of efforts and appeals from civil society organizations and certain political parties to adopt a law on same-sex unions that would regulate the basic rights of same-sex couples, there is no political will to pass such a law. As a result, all same-sex couples living in a partnership continue to face discrimination and remain in an unequal position.
We call on the competent ministry, the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and the National Assembly to reopen the dialogue on this issue and to stop ignoring the demands of the LGBT+ community, which, unfortunately, have remained unchanged for years.
