Project description: The project aimed to strengthen participatory democracy in Serbia through capacity building of media professionals and the broader public to recognize and address fake news, disinformation, and discriminatory narratives targeting the LGBT+ community. Through trainings and guidelines for responsible reporting, media professionals were trained to ethically report on topics concerning LGBT+ persons, especially on homophobic and transphobic violence and hate speech. The project also raised awareness among citizens about the harmful consequences of fake news and discriminatory narratives, with results presented through a publicly available digital archive documenting such cases. Target groups of the project included media professionals, the general public, and the LGBT+ community, aiming for active participation in the fight against disinformation and discrimination.
