Access to Justice for LGBT+ Persons in Serbia: Recognizing Victims, Ensuring Prosecution, and Visibility of Incidents

Project description: The project aimed to strengthen the protection of LGBT+ persons from violence and discrimination through better responses from competent institutions and the application of international standards. As a result of the project, the first network of over 10 civil society organizations from across Serbia was formed under the auspices of the Da se zna! Association, working on mapping and documenting incidents motivated by homophobia and transphobia. Additionally, the first Protocol for prosecutors on handling cases of crimes motivated by homophobia and transphobia was developed, comprehensive monitoring of hate speech and hate crimes against LGBT+ persons in Serbia was conducted, and continuous legal support was provided to survivors. The project also raised public and media awareness of LGBT+ issues and improved cooperation with relevant national and international institutions.
