Pride Caravan Successfully Held in Niš, High Tensions in Leskovac
On Saturday, July 23, 2025, we visited Niš and Leskovac as part of the Pride Caravan. Through
this initiative, we aimed to provide support and send a message of solidarity to queer people in
southern Serbia, as well as to highlight the difficult situation and high levels of homo- and
transphobia in this part of the country.
In Niš, the protest was held together with the local queer community in a peaceful atmosphere,
with extensive coverage by local media. We are proud of Niš and the values of acceptance and
tolerance that the city demonstrated.
In Leskovac, the Pride protest took place under high tensions and a significant police presence.
A large number of counter-demonstrators gathered in an attempt to disrupt our event, and the
police did not detain or sanction any individuals who threatened our safety.
