Association Da se zna! Demands Urgent Accountability for the Vandalism of the Memorial Plaque to Dušan Jovanović

Association Da se zna! strongly condemns the racist act of vandalism of the memorial plaque dedicated to Dušan Jovanović, a boy who was murdered 28 years ago because he was Roma.The perpetrators who, on January 2 of this year, poured feces over the memorial plaque to Dušan Jovanović located in Belgrade remain unidentified.

Hatred toward Roma in Serbia is the result of continuous neglect and the ignoring of the severe social position of Roma, as well as the normalization, relativization, and encouragement of racism by representatives of institutions.

We demand that the police urgently identify the perpetrators of this act and prosecute them in accordance with the law, and that the prosecution qualify this act as a hate crime.
